While some folks may be confused about duplicate dentures, these dentures are made with materials that are known for temporary uses. We all can agree duplicate dentures are copies of an original denture, that is a copy of the same condition the original denture is in. If the dentures teeth are worn, so will the duplicate dentures teeth. But there are other reasons why duplicate dentures should only be used for temporary reasons such as a cosmetic backup, or spare use while the original denture is being repaired.

Duplicate dentures are also known as cloned dentures, or emergency dentures where most are made in similar ways. The duplicate dentures teeth and pink gum area are all connected as a single piece denture. Usually when dentures are made, the denture pink area is made and then the teeth are inserted by a denture technician one-by-one. As with duplicate dentures, teeth and the pink gums are copied and made as a single unit. This may be one of the reasons why duplicate dentures cost a fraction of regular dentures, because there is no labor needed to insert a denture tooth one-by-one into the denture. Another reason is the materials duplicate dentures are made from are a lower quality than low cost dentures that are sold as dentures.

Duplicate dentures are good to have if should something happen to your original denture. It will be comfortable as it is a copy of your denture. The copy can be used for cosmetic reasons if attending special events, or dinners. Can also reduce the worries of not having a denture, or something to use if should orginal dentures break.

However, duplicate dentures are made for use as a temporary solution. The teeth and pink gums are made as a single unit, and will wear down quickly if used daily. Foods such as coffee or pizza should be avoided as food stains can easily be absorbed into the teeth and pink gum line. It may be difficult to remove the stains once the denture has absorbed the stains. The same is said with low cost dentures as well, where folks migh resort to a concentrated cleaning solution to rid the stain. Sometimes as a result of using concentrated solutions, the denture will fade and become brittle.
